Are You Going To Overpay Your Taxes This Year?

by Dave Saunders on February 19, 2008

Did you know most people do?

The reason for this is simple: The tax law is absurdly complex and few people want to understand enough to make it work in their favor.

Of course, that sounds weird when you think about it…people aren’t willing to learn how to put money into their own pocket.

I bought an audio CD program from the Tax Reduction Institute and listened to the 13 audio CDs of former IRS tax enforcer and lawyer Sandy Botkin.

The first thing I noticed is that he’s funny and full of energy. Given the subject, that’s a very good thing.

I was totally blown away as I listened to the types of things I’m allowed to deduct from my taxes and strategies he uses, not based on loopholes, but on things specifically written into the tax code, which he says can easily halve your tax bill.

After taking all the notes that seemed to apply to me I took them to my own CPA and asked him to verify everything. It took about a week, but he came back and said that all the information taught by Sandy was 100% for real. Some of the things my CPA had already set up for me and I just didn’t “get it.”

For example: I take a deduction for my home office, which is really a home office and is not used to any other “living.” That includes a deduction for a variety of expenses for maintaining my home as well. Nice

I also take a deduction for my mobie phone.

The list goes on and that already adds up to thousands of dollars in deductions.

More money in my pocket!

Other things were news to my CPA and he was excited to help other clients apply what he now knew.

Why didn’t my CPA know all this stuff?

No one person can possibly know all the tax code. That’s just the way it is.

My tax bill was very, very low as a result of what I learn from TRI. The program was worth every last penny, and then some.

Of course, the product is also a tax deduction, so that’s pretty sweet.

Some people feel uneasy about tax deductions. They think they’re somehow doing something wrong.

I have a word for these people: dingbat.

Your civic duty is to pay the taxes you legally owe and not a penny more. If Congress sets up a tax deduction in your favor, then friggin’ use it!

Sandy Botkin is a great speaker and motivator to save taxes for sure. I helped to bring him to our town a few years ago to a group that all have home based businesses. We learned a lot and his program is well worth buying and as you say also a “tax deduction”
